Iced Einspanner
Chilled espresso over ice, crowned with a thick, barely sweet cap of whipped cream, a cold reinvention of the classic Viennese coffee that Google Trends marked as peaking in summer 2026. Try it with a matcha or hojicha shot in place of the espresso for the variations also trending.
Ingredients
- 2 shots espresso, freshly pulled
- 1/4 cup heavy cream, chilled
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- as needed ice
- pinch cocoa powder (for dusting)
Instructions

Fill a glass with as needed ice.

Brew 2 shots freshly pulled espresso and let it cool slightly, then pour it over the ice.

In a chilled bowl, whip 1/4 cup chilled heavy cream with 1 tbsp powdered sugar and 1/4 tsp vanilla extract until it holds thick, stiff peaks.

Spoon or pipe the whipped cream generously over the top of the iced espresso, mounding it high so it floats as a distinct cap.

Dust with pinch cocoa powder (for dusting) and serve immediately with a straw and a spoon.
