Ingredients

  • 2 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha powder
  • 4 tbsp hot water (not boiling, about 175F)
  • 6 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp simple syrup
  • 1.5 cups cold water
  • 2 cups ice cubes

Instructions

  1. 1

Sift 2 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha powder into a small bowl. Add 4 tbsp hot water (not boiling, about 175F) and whisk vigorously in a W or M motion until no lumps remain and the matcha is frothy.

  2. 2

In a pitcher, combine 6 tbsp fresh lemon juice, 2 tbsp simple syrup, and 1.5 cups cold water. Stir well to make the lemonade base.

  3. 3

Fill two tall glasses with 2 cups ice cubes.

  4. 4

Pour the lemonade base over the ice, filling each glass about two-thirds full.

  5. 5

Slowly pour the whisked matcha mixture over the back of a spoon on top of the lemonade to create a striking green layer. Serve immediately.
