Ingredients

  • 2 oz blanco tequila
  • 4 oz fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 oz grenadine syrup
  • as needed ice cubes
  • 1 orange slice (for garnish)
  • 1 maraschino cherry (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1

Fill a tall glass with as needed ice cubes.

  2. 2

Pour 2 oz blanco tequila over the ice, followed by 4 oz fresh orange juice.

  3. 3

Stir briefly to combine the tequila and orange juice.

  4. 4

Slowly pour 1/2 oz grenadine syrup down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon so it sinks to the bottom and creates the sunrise gradient.

  5. 5

Do not stir after adding the grenadine — this preserves the layered effect.

  6. 6

Garnish with 1 orange slice (for garnish) and 1 maraschino cherry (for garnish) on the rim.
