Blackberry Dumplings
Tender sweet dumplings simmered in a rich, warm blackberry sauce. A classic Southern dessert perfect for berry season.
Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp fine salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, chilled, diced
- 1/2 cup whole milk

Combine 4 cups fresh blackberries, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup water, and 2 tsp fresh lemon juice in a saucepan over medium heat.

Bring the berry mixture to a gentle boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

Whisk together 1.5 cups all-purpose flour, 1.5 tsp baking powder, and 1/4 tsp fine salt in a mixing bowl.

Cut in 2 tbsp chilled, diced unsalted butter using a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in 1/2 cup whole milk just until a thick dough forms.
