Thick slices of salty country ham cooked until seared and served with a rich sauce made from coffee and skillet drippings.
Ingredients
- 4 country ham slices
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup brewed black coffee
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Melt 1 tbsp unsalted butter in a heavy skillet over medium heat.

Add 4 country ham slices and sear for 2 to 3 minutes per side until browned, ensuring internal temperature reaches 145°F.

Transfer country ham slices to a warm plate, leaving the fat drippings in the skillet.

Pour 1/2 cup brewed black coffee and 1/4 cup water into the skillet, scraping up all browned bits from the bottom.

Stir in 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper and simmer over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly reduced, then spoon over country ham slices.
