Pork Shumai
Juicy ground pork and shrimp are seasoned with ginger and sesame, then steamed inside delicate wonton wrappers for a classic dim sum treat.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground pork
- 4 oz raw shrimp, minced
- 4 dried shiitake mushrooms, diced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
- 2 tbsp green onion, chopped
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing rice wine
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 20 wonton wrappers
- 20 frozen green peas, thawed

In a bowl, combine 1 lb ground pork, 4 oz minced raw shrimp, 4 diced dried shiitake mushrooms, 1 tsp minced fresh ginger, and 2 tbsp chopped green onion.

Add 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp toasted sesame oil, 1 tbsp Shaoxing rice wine, and 2 tsp cornstarch, stirring vigorously until sticky.

Place filling in center of 20 wonton wrappers and squeeze sides up to form open cylinders.

Top each dumpling by gently pressing 20 thawed frozen green peas into the open center.

Steam dumplings over boiling water for 10-12 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
