Sausage Gravy
A rich and creamy Southern style gravy made with seasoned pork sausage, pan drippings, flour, and whole milk.
Ingredients
- 1 lb bulk pork breakfast sausage
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2.5 cups whole milk
- 1/2 tsp black pepper, cracked
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 lb bulk pork breakfast sausage.

Cook the meat for 6 to 8 minutes, breaking it into small pieces, until browned and cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F.

Sprinkle 1/4 cup all-purpose flour over the cooked meat and rendered fat, then stir constantly for 2 minutes to cook out the raw flour taste.

Gradually pour in 2.5 cups whole milk while stirring continuously to dissolve any flour lumps.

Simmer gently for 3 to 5 minutes until thickened, then stir in 1/2 tsp kosher salt and 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper before serving hot.
