Teriyaki Beef Skewers
Tender beef chunks marinated in a sweet and savory teriyaki glaze, then grilled on skewers until caramelized. A popular Hawaiian BBQ dish trending on social media.
Ingredients
- 3 lbs beef sirloin or ribeye (cubed), cubed
- 6 tbsp soy sauce
- 4 tbsp mirin (sweet rice wine)
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 4 green onions, sliced
- 2 tsp sesame seeds

Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes.

In a bowl, whisk together 6 tbsp soy sauce, 4 tbsp mirin (sweet rice wine), 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp minced fresh ginger, 4 minced garlic cloves, 1 tsp sesame oil, and 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes.

Divide the marinade in half: use one portion for marinating the beef. Reserve the other for basting.

Place 3 lbs cubed beef sirloin or ribeye (cubed) in a bowl and pour half of the marinade over it. Toss gently and let marinate for 15 minutes.

Thread the marinated beef pieces onto the soaked skewers.

Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F). Oil the grates to prevent sticking.

Grill skewers for 5 to 6 minutes per side, turning frequently and basting with the reserved marinade. The internal temperature should reach 135°F for medium-rare.

Remove from grill and let rest for 5 minutes.

Garnish with 4 sliced green onions and 2 tsp sesame seeds. Serve with rice.
