Ingredients

  • 2 oz ouzo
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp simple syrup
  • 8 ice cubes
  • 4 oz sparkling water or club soda, chilled
  • 1 lemon wheel (for garnish), sliced
  • 1 fresh mint sprig (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1

Fill a rocks glass or highball glass with 8 ice cubes.

  2. 2

Pour 2 oz ouzo, 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice, and 1 tbsp simple syrup over the ice. As the ouzo meets the ice and lemon juice it will turn a milky white - this is normal and called the "ouzo effect."

  3. 3

Top with 4 oz chilled sparkling water or club soda and stir gently once to combine.

  4. 4

Garnish with the 1 sliced lemon wheel (for garnish) and 1 fresh mint sprig (optional garnish). Serve immediately.
