Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon whiskey
  • 6 fresh blackberries
  • 4 leaves fresh sage leaves
  • 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz simple syrup
  • as needed ice cubes
  • 2 oz club soda, chilled
  • 1 fresh blackberry and sage sprig (for garnish)

Instructions

    Add 6 fresh blackberries and 4 leaves fresh sage leaves to a cocktail shaker or sturdy rocks glass. Muddle firmly until the berries are crushed and the sage is fragrant.

    Add 2 oz bourbon whiskey, 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice, and 3/4 oz simple syrup to the shaker.

    Fill the shaker with ice cubes and shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds.

    Double-strain the mixture into an ice-filled rocks glass to remove seeds and herb bits.

    Top with 2 oz chilled club soda and stir gently once to combine.
