Cajun Popcorn Shrimp
Bite-sized shrimp marinated in spiced buttermilk, tossed in a cornmeal coating, and fried until crunchy. Served hot as a crispy starter or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 lb small raw shrimp, peeled
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 tsp Louisiana hot sauce
- 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
- 4 cups vegetable oil

Whisk 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2 tsp Louisiana hot sauce, and half of the 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning in a bowl.

Add 1 lb peeled small raw shrimp to the buttermilk mixture and marinate for 15 minutes.

Mix 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal, and remaining 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning in a shallow dish.

Heat 4 cups vegetable oil in a heavy pot over medium-high heat to 350°F.

Coat shrimp in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.

Fry shrimp in batches for 2 minutes until golden and internal temperature reaches 145°F.
