Ingredients

  • 2 black tea bags (or 2 tbsp loose leaf tea)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup whole milk (or non-dairy alternative)
  • 4 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed, crushed
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, sliced
  • 4 black peppercorns
  • 2 tbsp sugar (or honey)

Instructions

    In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups water, 4 crushed green cardamom pods, lightly crushed, 1 cinnamon stick, 4 whole cloves, 1 inch sliced fresh ginger, and 4 black peppercorns.

    Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes to infuse the spices.

    Add 2 black tea bags (or 2 tbsp loose leaf tea) and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.

    Stir in 1 cup whole milk (or non-dairy alternative) and 2 tbsp sugar (or honey), then return to a simmer.
