Shrimp Sinigang
A classic Filipino sour broth packed with tender shrimp, crisp vegetables, and savory tamarind flavor.
Ingredients
- 6 cups water
- 1 yellow onion, wedged
- 2 roma tomatoes, quartered
- 2 cups daikon radish, sliced
- 3 tbsp tamarind soup base mix
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 lb head-on large shrimp, trimmed
- 2 long green chili peppers, whole
- 4 cups baby spinach

Bring 6 cups water to a boil in a pot over medium-high heat.

Add 1 wedged yellow onion, 2 quartered roma tomatoes, and 2 cups sliced daikon radish, then simmer for 8 minutes until softened.

Stir in 3 tbsp tamarind soup base mix and 2 tbsp fish sauce until dissolved.

Add 1 lb trimmed head-on large shrimp and 2 whole long green chili peppers, cooking for 3 to 4 minutes until shrimp are opaque and reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.

Turn off heat, fold in 4 cups baby spinach, and serve hot.
