Air Fryer Avocado Fries
Creamy avocado wedges coated in a crispy breadcrumb crust and air-fried to golden perfection. A delicious contrast of textures with a fraction of the oil used in traditional frying.
Ingredients
- 2 firm-ripe avocados, sliced into wedges
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- as needed olive oil cooking spray
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1/2 cup sour cream (for serving)
Instructions
-
1
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
-
2
Set up your breading station with three shallow bowls: one with 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, one with 2 beaten large eggs, and one with a mixture of 1 cup panko breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp paprika, and 1/2 tsp kosher salt.
-
3
Slice 2 firm-ripe avocados in half, remove the pit, and carefully peel off the skin. Cut each half into 4-5 wedges, depending on the size of the avocado.
-
4
Dredge each avocado wedge first in flour, then dip in eggs, and finally coat with the panko mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
-
5
Place the breaded avocado wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they don't touch. You will likely need to cook in batches.
-
6
Spray the tops of the avocado fries lightly with as needed olive oil cooking spray.
-
7
Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until the coating is golden brown and crispy.
-
8
Meanwhile, mix 1/2 cup sour cream (for serving) with a squeeze of lime juice and a pinch of salt for a quick dipping sauce.
-
9
Serve the avocado fries hot, garnished with 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro and 1 cut into wedges lime, with the sour cream dip on the side.
