Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji), cored, halved
  • 1/3 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar, packed
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, cold, cubed
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • as needed whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup old-fashioned rolled oats, 3 tbsp packed brown sugar, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg, and 1/8 tsp salt. Add 3 tbsp cold, cubed unsalted butter and 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract. Use your fingers to work the butter in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbles.

  2. 2

Core and halve 4 cored, halved medium apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji). Use a spoon to slightly enlarge the hollow so there is room for the crumble filling.

  3. 3

Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.

  4. 4

Spoon the oat crumble mixture generously into each apple half, pressing lightly so it mounds slightly.

  5. 5

Place filled apple halves in the air fryer basket, crumble side up. Air fry for 15–18 minutes until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork and the crumble is golden brown.

  6. 6

Let cool for 2 minutes, then serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (for serving).
