Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

Spread 1 lb trimmed fresh green beans on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil and scatter 4 cloves thinly sliced garlic cloves over the top. Season with 1/2 tsp kosher salt, 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper, and 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes. Toss everything together and arrange in a single layer.

  3. 3

Roast for 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the beans are tender and beginning to blister.

  4. 4

Scatter 1/4 cup slivered almonds over the beans and return to the oven for 4 to 5 minutes until the almonds are toasted and golden.

  5. 5

Remove from the oven, drizzle with 2 tsp fresh lemon juice, and toss to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.
