Kippers with Herb Butter
Rich smoked herring fried in butter with freshly squeezed lemon juice and chopped parsley. A classic, savory dish packed with smoky flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 whole kipper fillets, patted dry
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tsp fresh flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
- 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

Melt 2 tbsp unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add 2 patted dry whole kipper fillets skin-side down and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.

Flip kippers carefully and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until heated through and reaching an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.

Spoon melted butter over kippers, then stir in 2 tsp fresh lemon juice and season with 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper.

Garnish with 2 tsp finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley and serve immediately.
