Ingredients

  • 1 med fresh pineapple, cut into spears
  • 2 packets unsweetened cherry drink mix (0.13 oz packet)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. 1

Peel and core 1 med fresh pineapple, then cut into spears about 3 inches long and 1/2 inch thick.

  2. 2

In a large zip-top bag or lidded jar, combine 2 packets unsweetened cherry drink mix (0.13 oz packet) and 1/2 cup granulated sugar.

  3. 3

Add the pineapple spears to the bag, seal, and toss or shake until every spear is evenly coated in the dry mix.

  4. 4

Refrigerate, shaking or turning the bag every so often so the spears sit in the juice that collects, until the fruit is deeply red and well flavored, at least 2 hours or up to overnight.

  5. 5

Serve chilled, straight from the jar or bag.
