  • 6 slices thick-cut bread, preferably day-old brioche, challah, or French bread
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, for cooking
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup, for serving
  • 1 cup fresh berries, for serving
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

    In a shallow bowl, whisk together 3 large eggs, 2/3 cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 2 tbsp granulated sugar, and 1/4 tsp salt until well combined.

    Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter and let it melt.

    Dip each slice of 6 slices preferably day-old brioche, challah, or French bread thick-cut bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 20-30 seconds on each side.

    Place the soaked bread slices onto the hot skillet and cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

    Add more unsalted butter to the skillet as needed between batches.

    Serve hot with 1/2 cup for serving maple syrup, 1 cup for serving fresh berries, and a dusting of 2 tbsp for dusting powdered sugar if desired.
