Ingredients

  • 10 lemons, juiced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup hot water, for simple syrup
  • 4 cups cold water
  • as needed ice
  • as needed lemon slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1

Make simple syrup: stir 1 cup granulated sugar into 1 cup hot water in a heatproof bowl or pitcher until dissolved. Let cool.

  2. 2

Roll each lemon to loosen juice, then juice 10 lemons to yield about 1 cup. Strain to remove seeds.

  3. 3

In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice, cooled simple syrup, and 4 cups cold water. Stir well.

  4. 4

Taste and adjust — add more lemon juice for tartness or more water if too strong.

  5. 5

Serve over ice with lemon slices as garnish.
