Crispy Feta Fries
Golden-fried feta cheese sticks with a crunchy coating and melty center. A viral Greek appetizer that's savory, addictive, and perfect with honey drizzle.
Ingredients
- 1 lb feta cheese block, cut into sticks
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten, beaten
- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- to taste black pepper
- 1.5 cups olive oil for frying
- 1/4 cup honey for drizzling
- 2 tsp fresh oregano for garnish

Cut 1 lb cut into sticks feta cheese block into sticks, approximately 3 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. Freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight.

In three shallow bowls, set up a breading station: 2/3 cup all-purpose flour in the first, 2 beaten eggs, beaten in the second.

In a third bowl, combine 2 cups breadcrumbs, 2 tsp dried oregano, 1 tsp garlic powder, and to taste black pepper.

Working with one piece at a time, coat 1 lb cut into sticks feta cheese block stick first in 2/3 cup all-purpose flour, then 2 beaten eggs, beaten, then the 2 cups breadcrumbs mixture, pressing gently so coating adheres.

Heat 1.5 cups olive oil for frying in a large skillet over medium-high heat to 350°F (a small bread cube should sizzle immediately).

Working in small batches, fry 1 lb cut into sticks feta cheese block sticks for 30-45 seconds per side until golden brown and crispy.

Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Serve immediately while still hot, drizzled with 1/4 cup honey for drizzling and garnished with 2 tsp fresh oregano for garnish.
