Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled to room temp
  • 6 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
  • as needed ice cubes

Instructions

  1. 1

Whisk together 6 tbsp sweetened condensed milk, 6 tbsp heavy cream, and 1/4 tsp fine sea salt in a small bowl until slightly thickened and the salt is dissolved, about 1 minute. Do not over-whip - the foam should be pourable, not stiff.

  2. 2

Fill two tall glasses with ice cubes.

  3. 3

Divide 1 cup cooled to room temp strong brewed coffee or espresso evenly between the glasses.

  4. 4

Spoon or pour the salted cream foam over the top of each glass, allowing it to float on the coffee.

  5. 5

Serve immediately. Stir gently before drinking to taste the layers, or sip through the foam as is.

Questions

Can I make Salt Coffee dairy-free?

Yes. The dairy in this entry is 6 tbsp sweetened condensed milk, 6 tbsp heavy cream. Swap the sweetened condensed milk for a plant-based version of the same product; the cream for full-fat coconut milk or an oat cooking cream. The richness shifts slightly, but the method does not change.

Can I halve or double Salt Coffee?

Yes. As written it serves 2. Every ingredient in this entry carries precomputed half and double quantities, and the app's batch dial rewrites them inside each step. To make a pitcher, multiply everything and stir over ice at the end.
