Salt Coffee
A popular Vietnamese cafe drink featuring strong brewed coffee poured over a creamy, lightly salted whipped condensed milk foam. The salt enhances the sweetness and rounds the bitterness for a surprisingly addictive combination.
Ingredients
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso, cooled to room temp
- 6 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
- 6 tbsp heavy cream
- 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
- as needed ice cubes
Instructions
-
1
Whisk together 6 tbsp sweetened condensed milk, 6 tbsp heavy cream, and 1/4 tsp fine sea salt in a small bowl until slightly thickened and the salt is dissolved, about 1 minute. Do not over-whip — the foam should be pourable, not stiff.
-
2
Fill two tall glasses with ice cubes.
-
3
Divide 1 cup cooled to room temp strong brewed coffee or espresso evenly between the glasses.
-
4
Spoon or pour the salted cream foam over the top of each glass, allowing it to float on the coffee.

5
Serve immediately. Stir gently before drinking to taste the layers, or sip through the foam as is.
