Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat a grill to high heat.

  2. 2

Grill 4 halved bell peppers, 2 halved hot green chilies, 4 halved plum tomatoes, and 4 unpeeled garlic cloves until skins are charred, turning occasionally for 15 minutes.

  3. 3

Transfer charred vegetables to a bowl, cover, and let steam for 10 minutes.

  4. 4

Peel charred skins from bell peppers, hot green chilies, plum tomatoes, and squeeze garlic cloves out of skins.

  7. 7

Top salad with 1 can drained canned tuna in olive oil, 2 quartered hard-boiled eggs, and drizzle with remaining extra virgin olive oil before serving.

Questions

How long does Slata Mechouia keep?

Dressed, it is best the day it is made. Keep the components separate and refrigerated and they hold about two days; dress just before serving.

Can I halve or double Slata Mechouia?

Yes. As written it serves 4. Every ingredient in this entry carries precomputed half and double quantities, and the app's batch dial rewrites them inside each step. Doubling on the grill just takes more surface area; keep the heat zones the same.
