Tostadas de Jamón y Queso
Spanish toast topped with creamy cheese, salty jamón, and fresh herbs. A quick, satisfying breakfast or light lunch that's crispy, savory, and perfectly balanced.
Ingredients
- 4 slices crusty bread (preferably Spanish pan de pueblo), sliced 1/2-inch thick
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 oz Gruyere cheese, sliced thin
- 2 oz jamón serrano (Spanish dry-cured ham), sliced thin
- 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp fresh herbs (thyme or oregano), chopped
- 1/2 clove garlic, halved
- pinch black pepper
- pinch red pepper flakes

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Lightly brush both sides of 4 slices sliced 1/2-inch thick crusty bread (preferably Spanish pan de pueblo) with 1 tbsp unsalted butter. Place on a baking sheet.

Toast bread in oven for 4-5 minutes until golden at edges.

Remove bread and rub each slice with 1/2 clove halved garlic.

Layer 3 oz sliced thin Gruyere cheese on top of each bread slice.

Arrange 2 oz sliced thin jamón serrano (Spanish dry-cured ham) on top of cheese.

Return to oven for 2-3 minutes until cheese begins to melt.

Remove from oven and drizzle lightly with 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil.

Sprinkle with 1 tsp chopped fresh herbs (thyme or oregano), pinch black pepper, and a pinch of pinch red pepper flakes.
