Sesame Seed Balls
Crispy on the outside and delightfully chewy inside, these golden fried pastry spheres are filled with sweet red bean paste and coated in sesame seeds.
Ingredients
- 2 cups glutinous rice flour
- 6 tbsp brown sugar
- 2/3 cup hot water
- 3/4 cup sweet red bean paste, chilled
- 1/2 cup white sesame seeds
- 4 cups vegetable oil

Dissolve 6 tbsp brown sugar completely in boiling 2/3 cup hot water.

Pour sugar water into 2 cups glutinous rice flour and knead until a smooth dough forms.

Divide dough and 3/4 cup chilled sweet red bean paste into equal pieces, then wrap dough around paste to form balls.

Roll dough balls in 1/2 cup white sesame seeds pressing gently so seeds stick.

Heat 4 cups vegetable oil in a pot to 320 degrees F and deep fry balls until golden brown.
