Kefta Briouat
Crispy Moroccan filo pastry triangles filled with warm-spiced ground beef and fresh herbs. Baked until golden brown for a crunchy exterior and savory center.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 10 filo pastry sheets, thawed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp olive oil

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add 1 medium finely diced yellow onion and cook for 5 minutes until softened.

Add 1 lb ground beef, 1 tsp ground cumin, 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 tsp paprika, and 1 tsp salt to the skillet.

Cook breaking up meat until browned and internal temperature reaches 160F, about 8 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley and 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, then let cool completely.

Preheat oven to 375F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Lay out 10 thawed filo pastry sheets, brush with 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter, and cut into long vertical strips.

Place a tablespoon of filling at strip end, fold into triangles, place on sheet, brush tops with remaining unsalted butter, and bake for 18 minutes until golden.
