Mai Tai
The crown jewel of Tiki cocktails created by Trader Vic in 1944, blending aged rum with orange curacao, fresh lime juice, and orgeat almond syrup. Fruity, nutty, and transporting.
Ingredients
- 2 oz aged Jamaican rum
- 1/2 oz orange curacao
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- 1/2 oz orgeat syrup
- 1/2 oz dark rum (for float)
- as needed crushed ice, crushed
- 1 sprig fresh mint sprig (for garnish)
- 1 lime wheel (for garnish)
Instructions

Fill a cocktail shaker with regular ice cubes.

Add 2 oz aged Jamaican rum, 1/2 oz orange curacao, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 1/2 oz orgeat syrup to the shaker.

Shake vigorously for about 12 seconds until well chilled.

Fill a rocks glass or tiki mug with as needed crushed crushed ice.

Strain the mixture over the crushed ice.

Float 1/2 oz dark rum (for float) on top by pouring it gently over the back of a spoon.

Garnish with 1 sprig fresh mint sprig (for garnish) and 1 lime wheel (for garnish) and serve immediately.
