Ingredients

  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup chocolate sprinkles
  • 1/8 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. 1

Combine 14 oz sweetened condensed milk, 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 tbsp unsalted butter, and 1/8 tsp salt in a heavy-bottomed medium saucepan.

  2. 2

Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly with a silicone spatula, until the mixture thickens and pulls away cleanly from the bottom of the pan, about 10 to 12 minutes. The mixture is ready when you can drag a line through it and it holds for a few seconds.

  3. 3

Pour the mixture onto a greased plate or baking dish and let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour until firm enough to roll.

  4. 4

Spread 1/2 cup chocolate sprinkles on a shallow plate.

  5. 5

Grease your hands lightly with butter and roll the chilled mixture into balls about 1 inch in diameter, then roll each ball in the chocolate sprinkles to coat completely.

  6. 6

Place finished brigadeiros in mini paper cups and refrigerate until ready to serve. They keep well chilled for up to 5 days.
