Swicy Chicken Sandwich
Crispy fried chicken glazed in hot honey and piled with pickled jalapenos, the sweet-spicy "swicy" combo driving 2026s biggest sandwich trend.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breasts, halved, pounded thin
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tbsp hot sauce
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 4 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 4 brioche buns, toasted
- 1/2 cup pickled jalapenos
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
Instructions
-
1
In a bowl, combine 4 pounded thin chicken breasts, halved with 1 cup buttermilk and 2 tbsp hot sauce. Cover and marinate in the fridge for at least 20 minutes.
-
2
In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup cornstarch, 2 tsp smoked paprika, and 1 tsp garlic powder.
-
3
Lift the chicken from the marinade, letting the excess drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture, pressing to coat well.
-
4
Heat 4 cups vegetable oil (for frying) in a deep skillet to 350F. Fry the chicken for 4 to 5 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through to an internal temperature of 165F. Drain on a wire rack.
-
5
Warm 1/2 cup honey with 1 tsp red pepper flakes in a small saucepan over low heat until it just starts to bubble, then remove from the heat.
-
6
Dip the fried chicken in the hot honey to coat completely.
-
7
Spread 1/4 cup mayonnaise on 4 toasted brioche buns and build each sandwich with the chicken and 1/2 cup pickled jalapenos.
