Stir-Fried Chinese Broccoli with Garlic
Crisp-tender gai lan stir-fried with plenty of smashed garlic and a savory mushroom sauce glaze.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Chinese broccoli, trimmed
- 6 garlic cloves, smashed
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp vegetarian mushroom sauce
- 2 tsp light soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1/4 cup water

Mix 2 tbsp vegetarian mushroom sauce, 2 tsp light soy sauce, 1/2 tsp granulated sugar, and 1/4 cup water in a small bowl to make the sauce.

Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a wok over high heat until shimmering.

Add 6 smashed garlic cloves and fry for 20 seconds until fragrant and lightly golden.

Add 1 lb trimmed Chinese broccoli stems first, then leaves, and stir-fry vigorously for 1 minute.

Pour in the sauce mixture, cover with a lid, and steam for 2 minutes until tender-crisp.

Remove the lid, drizzle with 1 tsp toasted sesame oil, and toss to combine before serving.
