- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 2 pita bread (6-inch)
- 4 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
-
1
In a skillet, cook 0.5 lb ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it apart as it cooks, about 3 minutes.
-
2
Add 1/2 med finely diced onion and 1/2 lg finely diced red bell pepper and cook until softened, about 2 minutes.
-
3
Stir in 1 minced garlic cloves and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

4
Add 1 tbsp tomato paste, 1/4 tsp ground cumin, 1/8 tsp ground coriander, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/8 tsp black pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
-
5
Remove the filling from heat and let cool for a few minutes.

6
Carefully separate the layers of each 2 pita bread (6-inch) to create a pocket.

7
Divide the filling equally between the pita pockets, filling each one generously.
-
8
Heat 4 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying) in a large skillet over medium heat.
-
9
Place the filled pita breads in the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until the bread is golden and crispy.

Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
-
11
Serve hot with tahini sauce, hummus, or fresh salsa.
