Smoked Pork Chops with Cabbage
Juicy smoked pork chops paired with tender braised red cabbage. A hearty, one-pan German dinner packed with flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs smoked pork chops
- 4 cups red cabbage, thinly sliced
- 2/3 cup onion, thinly sliced
- 2/3 Granny Smith apple, diced
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp caraway seeds
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper

Melt 1 tbsp unsalted butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add 2/3 cup thinly sliced onion and cook for 3 minutes until softened.

Add 4 cups thinly sliced red cabbage and 2/3 diced Granny Smith apple, stirring to combine.

Pour in 1 cup beef broth and 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar.

Stir in 1 tbsp brown sugar and 1/2 tsp caraway seeds.

Nestle 2 lbs smoked pork chops into the cabbage mixture.

Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring the cabbage occasionally, until the chops are heated through and cabbage is tender.

Season the cabbage with 1/4 tsp salt and 1/8 tsp black pepper to taste.
