Colacao con Churros
Crispy fried Spanish churros served alongside warm, malted chocolate milk made with Colacao.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 tsp fine salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
- 2 cups olive oil or vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 3 cups whole milk
- 6 tbsp Colacao chocolate powder

Bring 1 cup water and 1/2 tsp fine salt to a boil in a saucepan over high heat.

Remove saucepan from heat, add 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour, and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until dough forms a smooth ball.

Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.

Heat 2 cups olive oil or vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat to 350 degrees F.

Pipe six-inch strips of dough directly into hot oil, cutting ends with kitchen shears, and fry 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.

Drain cooked churros on paper towels and sprinkle with 2 tbsp granulated sugar.

Warm 3 cups whole milk in a small saucepan over medium heat, then whisk in 6 tbsp Colacao chocolate powder until completely dissolved.

Pour warm chocolate into glasses and serve immediately with hot churros.
