Poached Eggs on Toast
Warm poached eggs with runny yolks served over thick slices of buttered toasted bread. A classic breakfast staple cooked gently on the stovetop.
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 2 slices white or sourdough bread, toasted
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tbsp distilled white vinegar
- 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
- 1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Bring a medium saucepan of water to a gentle simmer over medium heat and stir in 1 tbsp distilled white vinegar.

Crack each of the 4 large eggs into a small ramekin or bowl.

Create a gentle whirlpool in the water with a spoon, then slide the large eggs carefully into the center.

Poach for 3 to 4 minutes until whites are set but yolks remain soft.

Spread 1 tbsp softened unsalted butter onto the 2 slices toasted white or sourdough bread.

Remove large eggs with a slotted spoon, drain on paper towels, and place atop the white or sourdough bread.

Season with 1/4 tsp fine sea salt and 1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper before serving immediately.
