Pirinc Pilavi
Classic Turkish rice pilaf cooked with butter, toasted orzo, and warm chicken broth for a fluffy and fragrant side dish.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Baldo or long-grain white rice, rinsed
- 3 tbsp orzo pasta
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cups hot chicken broth
- 1 tsp salt

Soak 2 cups rinsed Baldo or long-grain white rice in warm salted water for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly until water runs clear and drain well.

Heat 2 tbsp olive oil and 3 tbsp unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat until butter melts and bubbles.

Add 3 tbsp orzo pasta and cook, stirring constantly, until deeply golden brown.

Add drained 2 cups rinsed Baldo or long-grain white rice and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until translucent.

Pour in hot 3 cups hot chicken broth and 1 tsp salt, then bring to a boil.

Cover with a tight lid, reduce heat to low, and simmer undisturbed for 15 minutes until liquid is absorbed.

Remove from heat, place a towel under lid, and rest for 10 minutes before fluffing.
