Ceviche Dominicano
Fresh seafood cured in lime juice with red onions, cilantro, and avocado, a refreshing Dominican appetizer with bright citrus and Caribbean flavors.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs white fish fillets (mahi-mahi or snapper), diced
- 1 cup fresh lime juice
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 ripe avocado, diced
- 1 jalapeno, minced
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 2 cups tortilla chips

Dice 1.5 lbs diced white fish fillets (mahi-mahi or snapper) into small cubes (about 1/2 inch).

Place white fish fillets (mahi-mahi or snapper) in a glass or ceramic bowl (not metal). Pour 1 cup fresh lime juice over white fish fillets (mahi-mahi or snapper) until just covered.

Add 1/2 thinly sliced red onion, 1 minced jalapeno, and 1/4 tsp salt. Stir gently.

Cover and refrigerate for 30-45 minutes. The white fish fillets (mahi-mahi or snapper) will turn opaque and firm as it cures in the lime juice.

Gently fold in 1 diced ripe avocado, 1 diced tomato, and 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro. Drizzle with 2 tsp olive oil.

Season with 1/8 tsp black pepper. Taste and adjust salt if needed.

Serve immediately in chilled bowls with 2 cups tortilla chips on the side.
