Crusty Bread Rolls
Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these traditional rolls are baked with steam to achieve a classic bakery crust.
Ingredients
- 4 cups bread flour
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1.5 cups warm water
- 2 tsp fine sea salt
- 1 tsp granulated sugar

Combine 2 tsp active dry yeast, 1 tsp granulated sugar, and 1.5 cups warm water in a large bowl, then let bloom for 5 minutes until foamy.

Add 4 cups bread flour and 2 tsp fine sea salt, then knead the mixture for 8 minutes until a smooth dough forms.

Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.

Divide dough into equal portions, shape into oval rolls, cut a shallow slash lengthwise down each top, and rest for 20 minutes.
