Arroz Branco
A staple Brazilian white rice cooked with sautéed garlic and onion for a fluffy, savory side dish.
Ingredients
- 2 cups long-grain white rice, rinsed
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup white onion, diced
- 4 cups water
- 1 tsp salt

Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

Add 1/4 cup diced white onion and 2 minced garlic cloves, sautéing for 2 minutes until translucent and fragrant.

Stir in 2 cups rinsed long-grain white rice and cook for 2 minutes to lightly coat and toast the grains.

Pour in 4 cups water and stir in 1 tsp salt, bringing the mixture to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover with a tight lid, and simmer for 15 minutes until water is fully absorbed.

Remove saucepan from heat and let rest covered for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
