Nagasari
A traditional steamed rice cake filled with sweet banana and wrapped in fragrant banana leaves. Coconut milk and pandan infuse the tender batter with subtle sweetness and aroma.
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups rice flour
- 2 tbsp tapioca starch
- 2.5 cups coconut milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp fine salt
- 2 pandan leaf, tied in knot
- 2 banana, sliced
- 8 banana leaf sheets, softened

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 2.5 cups coconut milk, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 tsp fine salt, and 2 tied in knot pandan leaf until warm.

Whisk in 1.5 cups rice flour and 2 tbsp tapioca starch until smooth, then cook over low heat until a thick paste forms.

Discard pandan leaf and spoon a layer of cooked paste onto a piece of 8 softened banana leaf sheets.

Top with a slice of 2 sliced banana, cover with more paste, and wrap the banana leaf into a neat parcel.

Steam the parcels over boiling water for 25 minutes until firm, then cool before serving.
